Close to 25,000 Left Without Electricity in Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Nearly 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms swept through the area, generating strong winds hitting 109km/h.
Substantial Ice Stones and Extensive Impact
Residents observed giant hailstones measuring up to seven centimeters in some areas. Meteorological experts announced that different parts across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing power throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams activated to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victoria's Weather Woes
Simultaneously, around one thousand residents in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after Melbourne saw its most precipitation in 18 months.
Emergency response teams received nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, mostly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

- Wyndham - nearly 180 calls for assistance
At one point on Sunday, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.
Weather Forecast
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along significant areas of Queensland's east this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.
The following day was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing severe weather risk expected across different parts of both regions.
Safety Concern
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the current weather patterns.
This warning comes after historical occurrences where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
